A flat plate solar collector is designed to harness the energy from the sun and transform it into heat energy that can be used for a variety of purposes. Typically, this is achieved by passing water or a specialized mixture through the collector, which then absorbs and distributes the heat throughout the rest of the system. 3. Suitable for open or closed Loop (glycol-water)
For warm areas, a good type of solar collector to consider would be a flat plate collector. They are simple, cost-effective, and can work efficiently under high temperatures. On the other hand, for extremely cold regions, evacuated tube collectors are more suitable. They are more efficient in extreme cold temperatures due to their vacuum-sealed design, which also helps to protect the system from freezing.

Working Principle
The principle of operation for flat panel collectors differs from that of evacuated tube collectors. The former consists of a shallow rectangular box with a flat black plate and a tempered glass cover. The absorber plate is connected to a series of parallel tubes or one serpentine tube. Passing liquids such as water or antifreeze flow through the tubes on the absorber plate. Sunlight enters the collector through the cover, strikes the absorber plate, and turns into heat energy.
